Sparsh is the main textbook for Hindi B and includes both poetry and prose chapters from a wide range of authors, including classical poets like Kabir and Meera alongside modern writers. Hindi A students cover 15 chapters (Kshitij + Kritika) and Hindi B students cover 17 (Sparsh + Sanchayan). The printed Kshitij has 17 chapters and Kritika has 5, but the extra ones are not in the syllabus. eSaral lists only the syllabus chapters in the tables above.
Which chapters are removed from the Class 10 Hindi syllabus in 2026-27?
In Hindi A, five Kshitij chapters and two Kritika chapters are out. The Kshitij chapters are देव – सवैया, कवित्त; गिरिजाकुमार माथुर – छाया मत छूना; ऋतुराज – कन्यादान; महावीरप्रसाद द्विवेदी – स्त्री-शिक्षा के विरोधी कुतर्कों का खंडन; and सर्वेश्वर दयाल सक्सेना – मानवीय करुणा की दिव्य चमक. How are marks divided in the Class 10 Hindi A board exam?
The paper is 80 marks in 3 hours, plus 20 marks of internal assessment. Section A (unseen passages) is 14 marks, Section B (grammar) 16, Section C (textbooks) 30 and Section D (writing) 20. For subject-wise details, see eSaral's Class 10 exam pattern.
How many marks come from Kshitij and Kritika?
Together they carry 30 marks. Kshitij prose gives 11 (5 MCQs and 3 short answers of 25–30 words), Kshitij poetry gives 11 in the same pattern, and Kritika gives 8 (two answers of 50–60 words, worth 4 marks each).
What is the difference between Kshitij and Sparsh?
Kshitij is the main textbook for Hindi A, and Sparsh is the main textbook for Hindi B. Both mix poetry and prose, but they are not interchangeable. If your school follows Hindi A, you study Kshitij and Kritika. If it follows Hindi B, you study Sparsh and Sanchayan. Kshitij carries 22 marks in the Hindi A board paper and Sparsh carries 22 marks in the Hindi B board paper.
Which chapters are most important for the board exam?
Every chapter in your syllabus can be asked, since paper setting rotates and no chapter is safe to skip. Give equal attention to poetry and prose, because each carries 11 marks in Hindi A.
